CNPq Research Group
GOALS
The Network's main objective is to share research through exchanges between researchers linked to the areas of History, Anthropology, Archeology and other sciences, whose object of study is human societies at different times. The researchers involved seek to think about social and humanistic analyzes about the historicity of American bodies, based on the process of modern globalization that occurred in the 16th century and is still present. In particular, they intend to promote discussions about the different performances and corporeality in relation to the exercise of control, effective or not, over the bodies of natives, Africans, Europeans, mestizos and their descendants in the region understood today as America. On the other hand, they analyze bodies, considering the relations of knowledge and power constituted in contemporary times. The temporal cut thus covers the period that begins with the European conquest and colonization in the 16th century, and extends until the 21st century, covering different conceptions about bodies and the varied relationships that were established and are established over them.
